This policy explains when and why we The Impostors Community collect personal information about our members and how we use it; keep it secure and Impostors Community member’s rights in relation to it. This includes probationary members, visitors and guests. We will collect, use and store personal data, as described in this Data Protection Policy when people engage in activities at the Impostors Community. Normally this will be through some level of membership.

For the purposes of the GDPR, The Impostors Community Co-Founders will be the “controller” of all personal data we hold about Impostors Community members and others. The Co-Founders are responsible for making sure the Impostors Community complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which applies from 25 May 2018. We will review personal data every year to establish whether we are still entitled to process it or not.

In general, your personal data will only be used for the purposes of group engagement, and your email and telephone numbers may be used for communication about the Impostors Community, upcoming events, activity on our professional group chat, and other relevant updates etc. Your personal data will not be passed to anyone else outside the Impostors Community and your email will only be given to someone outside the Impostors Community with your permission.

The Lawful reasons for processing your data.

We have two lawful reasons for processing your data, which are:

(a) Processing of your data is necessary for keeping you up to date with events and activities as a member of our Community

(b) You have given consent to the processing of your data by signing up to the community at one point or another.

In addition to the reasons stated below we may have to disclose your data where we have an inescapable legal obligation.

Type of information: Name, Job Title, Company Name, LinkedIn profile

Purpose: Internal review of suitability to be a member of the Community, and relevance of communications

Shared with: Members of the community when joining the group and Group Administrators

Enquiries and other communications with the Impostors Community

When enquiring about the Impostors Community we may hold your details for a period of time to deal with the enquiry. Any emails and other communications with the Impostors Community will only be retained for a period of time appropriate to the content or request. Impostors Community emails will be purged on a regular basis. People added to a Impostors Community waiting list for membership will be informed and asked for permission to store that data at that point.

How we protect your personal data

The Data Controller will process membership information electronically and hold all information on a database on Mailchimp.com.

For any on-line payments which we take from members and guests, we will use a recognised online secure payment system.

In the unlikely event of a breach of the security of data we will notify members promptly and we will never sell or pass on your personal data.

Request to see your personal information

If you wish to know what personal data the Impostors Community holds please email the Co-Founders at theimpostorscommunity@gmail.com and they will respond within 14 days of the request (depending on availability).

Accuracy and retention of data

Each individual member is responsible for keeping the Co-Founders informed of changes to their data as and when it changes – though this is completely at your discretion.

The Community will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

The Community will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of Our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.
